POLICE REPRESSION AGAINST GREEK STEELWORKS' STRIKERS: ACT NOW!
Last Friday, around 5 a.m., Greek Riot Police broke the picket lines at the Greek Steelworks, where the workers have been on a long-term heroic strike for 9 months now, raising waves of international solidarity. The strikers present at the factory were beaten and arrested. They have been taken to the Greek Police HQ, where they are still detained, and are expected to be judged in summary proceedings for flagrant crimes.
If you want to take action, write to the Greek Minister of Labour, Mr Vroutsis, with the following proposed message:

On Friday, July 20th, the Greek Riot Police (MAT) have entered by force, hit and arrested in their workplace some reported 10 heroic steelworkers. Defending the workers’ rights to live on a decent salary and to resist abusive layoffs cannot be qualified as a crime.
I am asking you to take urgent measures to ensure that the Special Police Forces are immediately withdrawn from the factory, the arrested workers are released, and their just demands are granted by compelling the factory owner, Mr Manessis, to respect labour law.
With best regards,
