Solidarity to the public transport strikers in Greece from the Amsterdam public transport trade union
“To the Greek workers in the public transport
The trade union Advakabo of the Amsterdam public transport group (GVB) wants to express its support and solidarity to your resistance against the salary cuts and the impending dismissal that you are about to face, if you continue with the planned strikes. We, as members of the trade union in the public sector, also fight in our country against austerity measures that are imposed on workers, students and the poor.
Just like you, we in the trade union Advakabo of GVB group believe that the cost for the crisis must be paid by those that caused the crisis and not by the Greek workers, students and poor people. Your struggle is therefore our struggle. If you win, then it will be more difficult to apply austerity elsewhere, and also here.
But if you lose, then the austerity measures that have already been approved in many EU member-states, are going to become permanent. Therefore we support you and express our solidarity to the call of Greek trade unions not to give up and to continue with your fight for justice.
On behalf of ABVAKABO of the GVB group,
The chairman
Ko Hartman”
