Catastroïka is een documentaire die onderzoek doet naar de effecten van de privatiseringsprogrammas van verschillende landen. Van Rusland tot het Verenigd Koninkrijk en het Griekenland van vandaag de dag.

Noami Klein, Slovoj Žižek, Ken Loach en anderen academici en specialisten vertellen over de geschiedenis van het neoliberalisme en laten aan de hand van Griekeland zien wat de gevolgen zijn van de bezuinigingsmaatregelen en de huidige uitverkoop van staatseigendommen opgelegd door de internationale gemeenschap.

De documentaire stelt een aantal vragen die aan de basis kunnen staan van een interessante open discussie: Wat is de rol van de EU en de architectuur van de Eurozone en hoe is dat gerelateerd aan deze resultaten? Noami Klein, Slovoj Žižek, Ken Loach among other academics and specialists talk about the history of neoliberalism and use Greece as an example to show the consequences of the austerity measures and sale of state assets that have been imposed by the international community.

The documentary poses several questions that can be subject for an interesting open discussion: What is the role of the EU and the architecture of the Eurozone and how is that related to these results? Does the crisis in the Eurozone only pose a problem for Greece or Spain or are these more structural issues?
